OK, first of all welcome to this increasingly misleadingly named website
A word of explanation is in order. For a long time, I'd thought about cycling from the top of Norway to the bottom of Sicily. Obviously, no one middle-aged and a non-student has that much time at their disposal, but in 2007 I found I had six weeks to play with, and decided to have a go and head off south just see how far I got.
Having meandered down as far as Bergamo, and with a pending three-line whip for a family wedding, I returned home.
In 2008, working in the south of Germany, it seemed sensible to resume, so I did, and got to various points of the bottom of Sicily. Right to the bottom? I still don't really know. You judge.
Hence the name of the website, which I really ought to change sometime soon. I originally started it just so that Ruth, my mum and Aunty Doris could verify that I was still alive, and hadn't been obliterated by a Polish 26-wheeler, without my having to make hideously expensive phone calls home every evening.
Anyway, the site now consists of descriptions of past rides, short or long, and occasionally, longer ones which are ongoing. Don't want to specify any further, as otherwise I'll have to come back and update this page in the future, and I'm not a web whizz.
So I suppose it's best to describe this as a sort of scrapbook, which I'll enjoy looking back at in years to come, and which you're welcome to browse if you want to.
