It was pointed out to me (thanks, Ruth) that despite talking a good ride, the laurels I was resting on were a bit faded. That is, the last time I did 100 miles in a day was around 1982. Does 25 years sound more or less if you call it a quarter of a century? Either way, it's a long time. If we renew every cell in our body every seven years (well, possibly), I've got through three incarnations since I put any of them to the test on a bike.
